Role Overview:
The Creative Services & Scenic team are a growing department that deliver across a wide variety of live event solutions for our clients across multiple sectors. We are looking for a hard-working, dynamic, committed, and self-motivated individual to join our growing team as a Scenic Project Manager. The successful candidate will work well within a team, have a good working knowledge of scenic build, design and materials within the events industry. The role will involve orchestrating the successful delivery of a range of scenic projects in varying scales and complexity. This is a hands-on, client-facing role. We pride ourselves in producing excellent events which surpass our client’s expectations. The Scenic Project Manager is key to maintaining this reputation, we expect the individual fulfilling this role to aim for “Excellence in Production” in every aspect of the role.

Responsibilities of the Role:
The primary responsibility of the Scenic Project Manager is to provide experienced leadership in the planning and delivery of scenic production projects true to our values.

Project Management:

  • Oversee the successful delivery of scenic projects from brief to execution.
  • Work along side Technical Project Mangers to support and share delivery responsibilities.
  • Work with internal teams and partners.
  • Meet with clients, listen, and understand their situation, build relationship and rapport, and help articulate their brief.
  • Prepare designs on occasion or in partnership with the wider Creative Services team that serve the client’s situation.
  • Ensure an exceptional level of build quality within our scenic solutions and work with the team to identify areas to continually improve and develop.
  • Prepare technical drawings ready for build by the in house carpentry team and for use in on site delivery.
  • Share knowledge of materials and construction methods with the carpentry team, encouraging development and engagement within the team.
  • Have a good understanding of materials and costs ensuring scenic solutions and delivery is within budget.

The lead person who will:

  • Produce scenic design and construction plans.
  • Create and manage delivery timelines for each event ensuring designs are signed off in time and materials are ordered ahead of workshop build.
  • Book and manage internal team resources and external freelancers in partnership with Technical Project Manages. 
  • Book and manage third-party partners or suppliers.
  • Prepare and communicate Production documents, CDM documents and plans.
  • Oversee financial control of the project ensuring it is within budget.
  • Provide leadership to the onsite team and actively manage the team and third parties.
  • Project review – did you exceed Client expectations, deliverables, team, and deliver within budget.  
  • To follow and lead the team in meeting the company’s Health and Safety policies

Client Relationship:

  • Onsite relationship management with clients, always willing to listen and collaborate with them.
  • Be adaptable to changes and make decisions to support the team and client.

  • Able and willing to travel throughout the UK and occasionally abroad.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in delivering live event scenic solutions.
  • Extensive knowledge of build materials and construction methods.
  • Knowledge of hire management systems, Hirehop is preferable.
  • Knowledge of safe working practices in key safety areas.
  • Scenic construction & build etc.
  • Experienced in effective resource management.
  • Full Driving licence.
  • Very competent in communicating with modern digital tools including messaging clients (Microsoft Teams) and email.
  • Competent in Sketchup and Vcarve for CNC production.

Hours:
40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. But as part of the events industry, we are subject to abnormal working hours. The Projects Team must be flexible around these hours.
