Warwick Business School
Warwick, UK
The Project
Offering some of the top business programmes in the UK and globally, Warwick Business School (WBS) sits at the forefront of innovation with the vision of using business as a power for good to change the world. Aiming to bring together people of different backgrounds from across the globe, WBS welcomes students, faculty, staff and corporate partners who embody their ‘Change Maker’ values and are passionate about making a positive difference in the world of business and beyond.
The Brief
Ambitious to embrace new technology, WBS aspired to develop a progressive learning environment for students – one that was unparalleled and unmatched by other institutions. They wanted to be the first business school in the UK to launch SmartStage®, which harnesses extended reality (XR) to embed students in their online experience. Replacing the traditional green screen element of a virtual studio, this immersive 3D video environment would allow professors to deliver course curriculum via a mixed reality platform where they could present and interact with the content around them.
The Solution
Real-time custom-designed content is presented using AOTO 3000mm x 2500mm LED Wall and 3045mm x 30405mm LED video floor, rendered using Disguise VX2 media server and supported by a Disguise RX2 render node. Recorded via 4K broadcasting camera with Fuji lens, the footage is further processed and mixed with Disguise-generated set extensions to expand the virtual set beyond the bounds of the LED volume and provide the extended reality (XR) studio.

Dan Pearson
Director of Academic Environment at WBS
“We are the first business school in Europe to use SmartStage® with its XR capabilities. Traditional online teaching can feel impersonal, slide-heavy, and unengaging, but our pioneering technology has transformed the way that online courses can be delivered. We’ve created an immersive, interactive environment that enables deeper learning, more questions, and better discussions.
Academics have commented on how easy it is to deliver via the platform, and students studying online feel more connected to the teaching team even though they are not physically in the room – it has been a great success.”
