Alchemist’s Feast
National Gallery
The Project
Ahead of the National Gallery’s Bicentenary in 2024, the world-renowned art gallery has launched its year long NG200 campaign, including a series of redevelopment projects and a diverse public programme. The Alchemist’s Feast was the inaugural summer party and marked the start of a fundraising campaign to fulfil the ambitious vision for leading the National Gallery into its third century.
The Brief
To create an interlinked immersive experience between the guest and the artworks.
The Solution
Working with Patrick’s creative concept, the earliest iteration of the brief called for bespoke content to be projection mapped onto the architecture surrounding an iconic artwork, bringing it to life. Through the use of video, lighting and custom audio solutions the team created a full immersive guest experience.

Natasha Halford
Head of Gallery Events | National Gallery
“This was an incredibly important and ambitious event for the National Gallery. Not only were we keen to launch our bicentenary campaign with a highly memorable step-change event, but we were keen to widen our audience with special press coverage. The postponements caused by the pandemic further complicated the process. It was therefore essential that we work with highly trusted suppliers to ensure that the event achieved its objectives. With unprecedented layers of production and techniques, we appreciated the d&b Soluitions team’s huge experience, flexible and can-do approach and best of all, camaraderie!”
